A Lounge Needs Actual Lounge Furniture
When I hear the word “lounge,” I think about relaxing. If I’m lounging around at home, it means I’m sprawled out on the couch most likely watching television and noshing on food. If I’m in the mood to actually go to a lounge, I’m thinking about low-lighting, cool ambient music, overpriced mixed cocktails with funky names, and comfy couches and seating. While I might eventually muster up the courage to hit the dance floor on the other side of the bar, my friends and I will spend most of our time sipping cocktails and enjoying the music.
Unlike going to a dive bar, I expect to sit at the lounge, on modern sofas no doubt. That’s the whole point. To create a chill and relaxing atmosphere for people. A bar can be as hip or as grungy as you want it to be and people will come flocking. But a lounge has a more upscale appeal, if you will.
